Kodaikanal is a picturesque hill station in Tamil Nadu, India, situated at an altitude of about 7,200 feet in the Palani Hills of the Western Ghats. Established in 1845 as a refuge from the heat and diseases of the plains, it is known as the "Princess of Hill Stations." Kodaikanal boasts serene lakes, cascading waterfalls, lush green forests, and scenic valleys, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and tourists seeking tranquility. The town also features unique attractions like the man-made Kodai Lake, Coaker’s Walk, Pillar Rocks, and an astronomy observatory, blending natural beauty with rich history and cultural charm. Its cool climate and breathtaking landscapes offer an ideal escape throughout the year.

The nearest airport to Kodaikanal is Madurai Airport. The nearest railway station will be kodai road and if not available then Dindigul / Madurai. However, buses are preferable as they directly drop you down at Kodaikanal Bus stand. It shall be overnight bus journey from Chennai / Bangalore. Make sure you carry a fleece / sweater / dupatta with you for warmth. If you have minimal luggage / bike enthusiast, better opt bike rentals from Madurai and take it to Kodaikanal (~120km) and experience the ghat road journey. Ensure you get e-pass from TN Govt website for vehicles getting into Kodaikanal. Also, bike rentals are banned in hill station, so those who doesn’t come via own vehicle has to rely on cab drivers.
